*Burgundy Crescent Volunteers (Sat., March 24; 31 people attended), a group aimed at members of the area’s Gay community who like to socialize in a socially conscious fashion, held a get-together at Buffalo Billiards, 1330 19th St., NW, in the District.
The event saw the addition of 18 people to the Crescent’s ranks, bringing their total membership to nearly 70 volunteers, said Jonathan Blumenthal, one of the group’s three co-founders. He added that membership has exceeded expectations since the group’s start in mid-February.
"It’s growing a lot faster than we expected," said Blumenthal. "And we’re getting a lot of requests [for help] from different volunteer organizations."
Some of the organizations Burgundy Crescent will be aiding in the future are the Mautner Project, Food & Friends, D.C. AIDSRide, and Reel Affirmations.
